0International Vehicles Corporation, or simply Iveco, was initiated from the combination of five different brands from three different countries: Fiat Veicoli Industriali, OM, Lancia Veicoli Speciali, Unic, and Magirus-Deutz. Headquartered in Turin, Italy, the company is a manufacturing company known for their production of industrial vehicles that includes commercial vehicles of different weights, vehicles on sites of quarry and construction, city and intercity busses, and vehicles primarily used for emergencies like fire trucks, or others for off-road missions, the military and civil defence. It is a child of the CNH Industrial Group, one of the biggest capital goods companies in the world.
Iveco has done plenty of innovations in the field of diesel engines. In 1980, the company introduced the first turbo diesel engine for heavy industrial vehicles; in 1985, the first light diesel engine with direct injection; and in 1989, the first diesel engine with EGR, compatible with commercial vehicles, that is capable of reducing polluting emissions.
Reducing pollution and increasing environmental awareness is also at the front of the company’s business. Their many emissions and alternative fuels include; Euro VI engines with SCR technology, Electric Drive, Diesel-electric parallel hybrid traction, Diesel-electric Hybrid, Compressed Natural Gas, Liquefied Natural Gas, and Iveco Trakker Bifuel, which was the first prototype of a bifuel, diesel, and ethanol-run vehicle created.
