0Founded in Milan back on 1910 as A.L.F.A, or “Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili” in Italian or Anonymous Lombard Automobile Factory in English, Alfa Romeo is an Italian car manufacturer that has established itself as one of the most famous sports cars in the world. The company came from new cars designed by Guiseppe Merosi for another company, known as Società Anonima Italiana Darracq (SAID) led by Alexandre Darracq, whose cars were deemed to be selling badly. ALFA was then founded back in 1910, with SAID being initially in its partnership. The company name was then changed to Alfa Romeo back in 1920 with the Torpedo 20-30 HP being the first car to hold the name.
The centre of every conceptualisation Alfa creates is marked on the emphasis of the performance of a car while underlining historical tradition. Directing its designers in a certain style, Alfa has always maintained a preference when it comes to constructing the bodywork of its cars in terms of the combination of lines and forms.
From Grand Prix, Formula One, to rallies, Alfa Romeo has competed in numerous competitions around the world, giving the marque its reputation as a preeminent sports car. It currently holds the top spot with the most wins of any marque in the world. Selling around 40,000 cars every year, Alfa Romeo Guiletta, is currently at the top of the marque’s sales.
