Mercedes Benz is an automobile company existing as a division of Daimler AG based in German. Benz, as called by many in a short form, that has its vehicle brands known as luxury vehicles, busses, trucks, and coaches. Mercedes-Benz was established by Karl Benz and Gottlieb Daimler in the year 1926 and it was first called Daimler Benz. Mercedes Benz was the first automobile company to produce the first cars powered by gasoline. Benz product quality initiated a slogan; “the best or nothing” as its own, and this slogan is attached to Mercedes Benz in the automobile company all over the globe.

Sequel to the merging of Gottlieb Daimler and Karl Benz companies in 1926, the first car brand (Mercedes 770 model) by the company was produced. Mercedes Benz has the credit of producing a bulletproof windscreen driven by Adolf Hitler. The company has innovated a lot in the automobile industry which is has been adopted by other car companies and now commonly used.

In 1999 Mercedes-AMG took over the ownership of Mercedes-Benz and integrated DaimlerChrysler same year. Mercedes-Benz has over 29 factories all over the world to include Africa, Asia, Europe, and America. Current models of Mercedes-Benz include the A -Class, B-Class, C-Class, CLA-Class, and CLB-Class.

In 1920, Mazda Motor Corporation came into existence through its sole founder, Jujiro Matsuda with its headquarters located in Shinchi Fuchu Aki, Hiroshima, Japan, the company’s vision is focused on the love of cars and urging people to enjoy life through the use of its cars. Mazda cars have evolved through numerous outstanding designs, models and technological innovations, over time. Their brand essence connotes “celebrating driving”, a term which emphasises the company’s effort towards achieving enhanced performance and comfort by users.

About 1.3million automobiles were produced by Mazda in 2007, a move which was aimed at meeting global sales and most of these cars were assembled at the company’s plant located in Japan while the rest came from the company’s other plants. In the year 2011, Mazda ranked the fifteenth biggest auto manufacturer globally.

Mazda has made series of technological advancement geared towards providing lasting satisfaction to vehicle users. Its in-depth research gave birth to such results as the hybrid version of its compact minivan called the Premacy. This uses a version of its engines that can run on hydrogen and gasoline and the SkyActive technology is featured in the CX-5, Mazda2/Demio among others.

In the exotic world of luxury automobiles, the name Lexus stands out in reputation and represents a certain class of glamour, as a division of Toyota, it has become the Japanese most marketed brand worldwide. Lexus was founded in 1989 by Eiji Toyoda, with its headquarters in Ngoya, Japan and its current net worth, according to Forbes stands at $19.5billion in sales and ranks fourth among the numerous luxury automobile brands. Lexus came as a result of a corporate plan to build a new line of premium sedan designs, an operation which began in 1983 with the code name F1. The Lexus LS400 of 1989 became the first design followed by Lexus coupe, convertible and sport utility vehicle (SUV) models.

From its inception, Lexus products has always been manufactured in Japan, in Toyota’s Aichi, Tahara, Chubu, Miyata, Fukuoka and Kyushu plants. At this juncture, one can boldly assert that it has always been a joy to ride in Lexus cars beginning from the early days of the LX400, the LX450 sport utility vehicle, the E300 sedan, the SC430, the redesigned ES300 of 2001, the GX470 mid-sized sport utility vehicle of 2002 and the RX330 of 2003 to mention but a few.

Lexus took the 1st ever customer care initiative in 1989 when the company recalled 8000 LS400 due to defects in its wiring and brake light overheat. In 20 days, these defects were corrected and sent back free of charge. It’s a win-win situation with Lexus models.

Along with Jaguar, Land Rover is also owned by the Jaguar Land Rover, a British multinational automobile manufacturer, the company began its steps with a design primarily to be used on a farm, perhaps of the influence from the Jeep, of Maurice Wilks, chief designer at the Rover Company, together with his brother Spencer, the managing director of Rover. Over the years, Land Rover has developed plenty of four wheel drive vehicles such as the Defender, Discovery, Freelander, Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Range Rover Evoque. Because of its origins, Land Rover was originally intended for farm machinery with power take-off being the centre of its concept from 1948. Today, the marque can be found in a variety of body styles, from pick-up trucks, station wagons, fire engines, ambulances, snow ploughs, and even to special builds such as amphibious vehicles and vehicles fixed with tracks.

Land Rover has also served in the military, particularly in the British Army and the Australian Army and has also competed in the Dakar Rally and the Macmillan 4×4 UK Challenge. The company is also known for its safety, with the Land Rover Defender ranking on the safest cars on British Roads based on the statistics of the UK Department of Transport. Land Rover has also extended its brand to bicycles, coffees, and pushchairs.

Following the Hyundai Motor Company, Kia is the second largest automobile manufacturer in South Korea, the company was founded back in 1944 and was originally in the business of producing steel tubing and bicycle parts under the name Kyungsung Precision Industry. Under them, the first domestic bicycle, the Samchully, was produced back in 1951. The company then changed to Kia in 1952.

Today, it is headquartered in Seoul, Korea, and is 33.88% minority owned by the Hyundai Motor Company while being a minority owner, from 4.9% to 45.37%, of more than twenty Hyundai subsidiaries. In 2016, Kia ranked number one in model reliability in the US by J.D. Power and Associates.

Kia is affiliated or is a subsidiary of a number of companies, including the Hyundai Motor Company, Kia Motors Corporation, and Kia Motors America, Europe, and Mexico. Kia Motors has also worked on military vehicles and other transportation equipment, under Kia Defense. It was assigned by the South Korean government as a sole manufacturer of military vehicles back when Kia Heavy Industry Co., Ltd was established in 1976.

When it comes to design, Kia has been criticised for being expressionless and neutral. After Peter Schreyer’s hiring back in 2006, Kia aimed for giving their automobiles a familiar face with design standing as its core future growth engine. Since 2013, Kia has won the International Car of the Year.

A division of FCA US LLC, which is a solely owned subsidiary of the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Jeep is in the distribution of sports utility vehicles, off-road vehicles, and also formerly, pickup trucks. Jeeps were originally used for military purposes, a prototype of Bantam BRC. In 1945, the first jeep of a civilian model was introduced. In 1987, the company, together with the remaining assets of its former owner American Motors was acquired by FCA US LLC, then Chrysler Corporation, and is now headquartered at Toledo, Ohio.

After the production of Willys MB Jeeps back in 1941, jeeps then became the ubiquitous vehicle of World War II used by the US Army and the Allies. It was used by every service in the US military but even after the war, they were still in use after being imitated widely around the world, particularly in the Philippines where it is used as a unique type of transport for passengers. In the US, the Jeep has now been replaced by plenty of vehicles, with the Humvee being the latest.

Off-road capabilities are the prominent attributes of a Jeep. Many of the their models, particularly the Wrangler, is capable of crossing difficult obstacles with its solid front and rear axles. With the smaller models, fitting into smaller and more difficult places is easier with features including short wheelbases, narrow frames, and ample approach, breakover, and departure angles.

Today, the company is a British multinational car manufacturer for luxury vehicle brands under Jaguar Land Rover based in Whitley, Coventry, England and since 2008, owned by the Indian company Tata Motors.

Jaguar holds a close relationship with the British royalty. In May 2010, an XJ was delivered to the then British Prime Minister, one of the many cars they have manufactured in recent years. International Vehicles Corporation, or simply Iveco, was initiated from the combination of five different brands from three different countries: Fiat Veicoli Industriali, OM, Lancia Veicoli Speciali, Unic, and Magirus-Deutz. Established back in 1916, Isuzu began from a plan of manufacturing automobiles by Tokyo Ishikawajima Shipbuilding and Engineering Co. Ltd. with the Tokyo Gas and Electric Industrial Co. after fusing with the car maker, the company was then renamed as Isuzu, after the Isuzu River, which means “fifty bells”. Today, it is a manufacturing company for commercial vehicles and diesel engines headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.

The company has numerous subsidiaries all across the world, from Isuzu UK, Isuzu Motors India, to Isuzu Philippines. Commercial diesel-powered trucks, busses, and constructions act as their principal market focus with diesel engines being a major driving force of their business. Since 2009, after releasing over 21 million diesel engines, Isuzu can now be found in different vehicles across the world with their engines also being used by plenty of manufacturers including the Ford Motor Company and the Renault-Nissan Alliance.

Before, Isuzu sold passenger cars that were focused on diesel engines although, since 2009, the sales on passenger vehicles was discontinued in the United States due to lack of commercial value. Other ventures made by the company are assembly and manufacturing plants in Fujisawa and a commercial vehicle telematics service called Mimamori-kun for monitoring the actions and movements of commercial vehicles.
