As the only automobile manufacturer to win three official championships from the International Automobile Federation, Citroen has been steadily successful in the realm of Motorsport. But aside from their Motorsport awards, Citroen has also earned multiple national and international awards including three European Car of the Year. Its name came from its founder, French industrialist André-Gustave Citroën, who founded the company back in 1919 which is now a member of the PSA Peugeot Citroën group since 1976. Based on the Guinness Book of Records, Citroen’s advertising sign in the Eiffel Tower from 1925 to 1935 is considered the largest ever.

Innovation has always been at the front of Citroen’s vision with its history being filled with inventions. Their reputation came about after its invention of the Traction Avant which is the world’s first front-wheel drive car with four wheel independent suspension to undergo mass production and was one of the first cars to have a unitary type body. Furthermore, Citroen also introduced the world’s first hydro pneumatic self-levelling suspension system and the Citroen DS, the first car to run on modern disk brakes and also widely regarded as one of the most beautiful cars ever made. DS3, which was launched in 2009, served to bring back the DS name which then contributed to the launch of an entire separate DS sub-brand.
