Skoda started in December 1895 as manufacturer of push bikes, Vaclav Laurin (a mechanic) and Vaclav Klement (a bookseller) started designing and manufacturing Skoda as bicycles in Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic and they called their first company Slavia. These bicycles sold well and they started making motorbikes in 1899 and produced their first car in the 1900s, they later merged with Pizen Skodovka Co in 1925 and became Skoda.

Skoda manufactured Skoda 440 and in 1959, it was transformed into the first Octavia, named because it was the eighth model to be produced. In December 1990, after manufacturing other models such as the Felicia, the MB range, the Rapid and the Favorite model range, they decided to produce Volkswagen. Becoming the fourth brand in the Volkswagen group together with Volkswagen, Audi, and Seat. Since then, it has manufactured many models.

Top models of the company are the Škoda Yeti- Mini SUV (2009–present), Škoda Superb III – Executive car (2015–present), Škoda Octavia III – Large family car (2013–present), Škoda Rapid – Small family car (2012–present), Škoda Fabia III – Supermini (2014–present), Škoda Citigo – City car (2011– present), Škoda Kodiaq – SUV (2016-present).
